I’m sure we all remember 9-11-2001…it was a time that we all felt safe and secure as Americans, after all we led every market and every thing in the world right? Wrong. While we as Americans strived to be the best we missed out on one thing, humility. Taking pride in being the best at ANYTHING will immediately lead to your downfall…One of the 7 deadly sins is self-pride.
But here’s the thing, when 9-11 happened I personally don’t remember us being obnoxious about that (Being the best), we just WERE the best. We are a nation of free spirits, free thinkers, scientists, philosophers, whole hearts, patriots, veterans, friends, comrades, brothers and lovers.
But just simply BEING, and being WELL in a great country, can sometimes anger and agitate the outside world.
When those towers fell down I was in S.E.R.E. school and graduated about 2 weeks after, we all thought the US Army was F-ing with us, but they weren’t, I became a Green Beret.
As a Graduation gift, my father and I went to “Ground Zero” in New York only a week after this all happened and when I got there I was besides myself…A brand-new Green Beret looking at the devastation caused by terrorists!? On 9-11 our country lost over 3000 citizens to this great tragedy. Then we went to war. I went to war, and chose after leaving the military to return to war for some reason. Probably because the job wasn’t done over there yet….The world changed that day, extreme radicalism was re-born and a sleeping GIANT was yet again awakened and is awake to this day 10 years later.
And here I am 10 years later, remembering. I don’t have everything figured out, but what I can do…is a WOD to remember my friends.
